The 3rd Annual Milton Historical Society Antiques Show on Saturday, Sept. 18th, will feature 25 – 30 top quality antiques dealers from around the Delmarva Peninsula. The show will be held rain or shine right next to the museum at 210 Union Street, Milton, DE 19968. Get there early – the show runs from 9 am to 3 pm! I always find several “must haves” at this wonderful outdoor show.

It’s that time of year again in Milton, Delaware, when supporters of the Milton Historical Society come out to bid on trips, fine dining, antiques and art. But one of the most popular items each year is a dozen farm fresh eggs from Gladys Wilkins’ banty hens Eeney, Meeney, Miney and Moe!

For the 5th Annual Auction and Party, one weekend package will feature a luxury hotel room and orchestra seats for a special performance of Mozart’s “Magic Flute” performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Another featured item is a 5 night cruise to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas.

The event takes place at the Milton Fire Hall at 116 Front Street in the heart of downtown Milton. Dogfish Head beer and Teller wines will complement the hors d’oeuvres and live music during the silent and live auction event. On Monday morning, our receptionist Joann greeted me with an excited “I won!” Her duck was one of the big winners this past Saturday morning in the Great Duck Race on the Broadkill River in the heart of Milton, Delaware. Local businesses donate money and prizes so that there are lots of winners. I don’t know yet who won the big prize – $500 – but I do know that Joann was thrilled to win 3rd prize – $150!

Milton does the big events so well and this annual event, part of Bargains on the Broadkill and the Canoe and Kayak Race is one of the most popular. Put it on your calendar for next year, buy your yellow duckie early and come out for a great time.

Don’t miss the Great Duck Race, always a popular event at the annual Bargains on the Broadkill coming up on August 28th, 2010, from 9 am to 3 pm at Milton Memorial Park.  Local businesses and members of the Milton Chamber of Commerce sponsor a long list of prizes for the winning ducks.

The 1st place Duck earns a whopping $500! Last year one of my clients won a $50 prize, so make sure you contact me to purchase a winner this year.

There are also lots of craft vendors, artists and great food, all in the heart of Historic Milton, Delaware. The annual Canoe & Kayak Race begins at Oyster Rock Rd. and finishes at the Milton Memorial Park to the cheers of the Festival crowd. To register for the big race, get more info here.

This is 4th of July Weekend already and there is so much to do throughout the  Coastal area. Start tonight with the concert in Milton featuring the Matt Lafferty Band. Bring your lawn chair or get there early to grab a seat at Irish Eyes. The weather is going to be perfect today with temperatures in the 80s and lower humidity!

So much to do in Milton, Delaware, over the Memorial Day Weekend! It all begins with the opening night of the 2010 Milton Summer Concert Series, featuring Sun, Surf and 65, Wednesday, May 26th, 7 p.m., at Milton Memorial Park, sponsored by town’s parks and recreation committee, Salon Milton, Milton Liquors and Go Green Mobile Clean; free to public; in case of rain the concert will be held in the Milton Theatre.

Then, there is one of the major events of the entire year, the Horseshoe Crab/Shorebird Festival:

Memorial Day Weekend is fast approaching and the place to be is in Milton, Delaware for the 7th Annual Horeseshoe Crab & Shorebird Festival. May 28, 29 and 30, the festival takes place in Milton Memorial Park and at the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. This a family event and there is something for everyone to enjoy including Arts & Crafts, Games, Train Rides,Vendors, Great Food, Wildlife  Exhibits, Shuttle to Prime Hook, Entertainment and lots more.

On Sunday, February 7th, between 12 noon and 5 pm, Salon Milton will hold its annual benefit for the Milton Historical Society. Last year I had great fun filming the day’s events with my Flip Video camera. It was one of my first and you can watch that video here Fun Fundraising in Milton!.
Salon Milton, located at 517 Chestnut Street in Milton, marks its fourth year of operation on the same day and it promises to be a fun event. The salon offers hair cuts, manicures and a bake sale – all to benefit the Milton Historical Society. Casa San Francisco benefits all winter long from canned food that you drop off at the salon.

It’s that time of year again! Antiques in Milton, my favorite antique shop on Union Street has put together the 2nd Annual Antique Show to benefit the Milton Historical Society. Last year, I found some wonderful items including an ornament tree that will come out again for the holidays.

This show is just one of the reasons Autumn is my favorite time of year in Coastal Delaware. Look for the show right next to the Lydia Cannon Museum, 210 Union Street, Milton, Delaware.

Saturday, September 12th, from 4 – 8 pm, you don’t want to miss the Annual Best of Milton Auction and Party. This year, the Party will be held at the Milton FireHall, located right in the heart of town.

Milton Historical Society

Every year there is wonderful artwork, antiques and unique items available at both the silent and live auction. Last year, all I can say is that Bill and I could not walk home with our purchases! We always find things we just can’t live without and it’s for such a great cause. The Milton Historical Society brings out the best in this small town.

Then, on Saturday, September 19th, the place to be is the 2nd Annual Historical Society Antiques Show on the grounds of the Historical Society. Organized and promoted by Matt Grieg, owner of Antiques in Milton, this show looks like another successful event in Milton that is destined to become an annual event.
