Saturday, September 12th, from 4 – 8 pm, you don’t want to miss the Annual Best of Milton Auction and Party. This year, the Party will be held at the Milton FireHall, located right in the heart of town.

Milton Historical Society

Milton Historical Society

Every year there is wonderful artwork, antiques and unique items available at both the silent and live auction. Last year, all I can say is that Bill and I could not walk home with our purchases! We always find things we just can’t live without and it’s for such a great cause. The Milton Historical Society brings out the best in this small town.

Then, on Saturday, September 19th, the place to be is the 2nd Annual Historical Society Antiques Show on the grounds of the Historical Society. Organized and promoted by Matt Grieg, owner of Antiques in Milton, this show looks like another successful event in Milton that is destined to become an annual event.

MILTON, DE - Written in 1594, this is British farce at its best. A romp in the woods leads fools, fairies and star-crossed lovers from riotous confusion to the inevitable happy ending. Lysander loves Hermia. Helena loves Demetrius, by whom she was once courted. Demetrius thinks he loves Hermia. Hermia knows she loves Lysander, but is being forced to marry Demetrius. All the young people escape to the woods outside Athens where their problems grow when they cross the paths of feuding Titania and Oberon, the King and Queen of the fairies.

The town of Milton holds its annual townwide yard sale this Saturday, May 2, 2009. From one end of town to the other, in church parking lots and private driveways, the town is full of great steals and even some valuable antiques.

Get here early and wear comfortable shoes. Yard Sales – one of the perfect pasttimes in Sussex County, Delaware, and it all begins in Milton this weekend.

This was the headline in our local paper and then I looked at the photo. It looked like Amy Felker, the owner of The Lewes Bake Shoppe and Notting Hill Roastery on Second Street in Lewes. It’s right down the street from my office and I must get lunch from Amy at least twice a week. Now I find out she can SING! Not only that, she is teamed up with Stuart Vining, a local singer, songwriter and guitarist who we have seen in other very popular groups with the Boomer crowd – Big Hat No Cattle and Vinyl Shockley and Friends.

Bill and I will be going and I’m sure the Theatre will be booked with fans of Amy from both Lewes and Milton. Tickets for the event are only $8 and can be purchased at the door or by calling the Milton Theatre at 302-684-3400. The Theatre is online at www.miltontheatre.org for more information about this and other upcoming performances.

The Milton Theatre offers up some a great variety of entertainment, from live theatre to performances by local and touring professional musicians. Most small towns don’t have such a beautiful venue, they tend to hold concerts and plays in the high school gym or the church hall.

Flying Pumpkins, March 20, 2009, 7:00 pm at the Milton Theatre.

As residents of Milton, we love it when the Rehoboth Beach Film Society joined with the Milton Historical Society to bring some wonderful events to the Milton Theatre. Last month we saw a documentary on the Tuskeegee Airmen and this month we’ll hear about the history of a Sussex County tradition – Pumpkin Chunkin!

Flying Pumpkins

If you’re looking for fun, look no further. If you like to laugh, you’ve come to the right place. If you didn’t think pumpkins could fly, you need to think again. Feeling down? Concerned about the economy? Frustrated with the war? You might just need to spice up your day with a piece of some good old-fashioned, down-home punkin’ pie. With any luck, you might even get a new attitude. Just watch out for the flying pumpkins!

What an opportunity to learn more about living in Lower Delaware AND discover the center of culture in Milton – the Milton Theatre.
