The 3rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Milton, Delaware

Once again, Irish Eyes in Milton, Delaware, is sponsoring the 3rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 14th, 2010. The parade participants and the street crowds grow every year and everyone has a great time. I am part Irish (Kathleen) and so is my husband Bill. We’ll have to put together our decorations for the van this year and get ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style. Everyone is Irish at least once a year! Look for us in the Gotcha Covered van – “We’re Irish and we’ve always been Green,” is our theme.

Milton Historical Society Antique Show

Milton Historical SocietyIt’s that time of year again! Antiques in Milton, my favorite antique shop on Union Street has put together the 2nd Annual Antique Show to benefit the Milton Historical Society. Last year, I found some wonderful items including an ornament tree that will come out again for the holidays.

This show is just one of the reasons Autumn is my favorite time of year in Coastal Delaware. Look for the show right next to the Lydia Cannon Museum, 210 Union Street, Milton, Delaware.

March on the 15th in Milton for St. Patrick’s Day!

Be the first to comment on this post

If it’s March, the town of Milton is getting ready for the Second Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade!!

Sponsored by Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant right in the middle of town, the parade seems destined to become a Milton fixture and fun for all. Isn’t it true that everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day? My name is Kathleen, after all, as in “I’ll take you home again …”

Wear your GREEN and bring a caned or packaged food donation for Casa San Francisco right here in Milton. Line up at 1 pm along Atlantic Avenue; the Parade begins at 2 pm, Irish time!

P.S. The parade route takes you by some fabulous Milton homes for sale in the Historic District. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I am trying to promote my town and what better way than to tell you about the things we do for fun.

Milton Holly Festival

December 13th is the big day for the holidays in Milton this year. In addition to the House Tour, the popular Holly Festival opens its doors at the Fire Hall and Goshen Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last year I did much of my holiday gift shopping at the Festival. Get there early for greens, wreaths and plants from the Garden Club. Don’t miss the Museum Shop at the Milton Historical Society which will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and catch the holly wreath making demonstrations. Did you know that Milton was known as the “Land of Holly” back in the 1930s?

Milton Holiday House Tour

The annual Holiday House Tour helps support the further development of the non-profit Milton Theatre. Located in the heart of the Town Center, the Milton Theatre offers a variety of live theatre, movies, live musical performances and more. Tonight, for example, the Theatre is hosting the Milton Chamber of Commerce members mixer to kick off the holiday season. One of the things I enjoy most about living in town is that I can walk to the theatre.

Make plans now to visit Milton for this year’s Holiday House Tour on Saturday, December 13, 2008, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.  You will have a chance to see both new homes and homes in the Historic District and learn a little about the history of Milton and what brings us here today.

Our home will be featured on the tour this year and we’re very excited. We bought our home in the Historic District in February 2005, gutted the interior and totally renovated it for comfortable living today. We added a new kitchen and a 1st floor Master bedroom and spa bath. In June 2006, the work on the main part of the house was complete and we were able to move in. In 2007, we added a large great room addition with a side porch.

We look forward to seeing you on the Holiday House Tour December 13th!

Milton is a great town for an early morning walk. The other day, I left the hand weights home and took my camera instead. You’ll see the mix of historic homes, homes under renovation, the Milton Theatre, some local businesses and the work of the Milton Garden Club.

Hello world!

Welcome to the Historic town of Milton, Delaware. Located in Sussex County in Coastal Delaware, it appeals to many people that are choosing to move as they approach retirement. While we still lived in Wilmington and drove through Milton en route to the beach or to visit friends and family, we were attracted to the many different types of historic homes, many of which were being restored. It felt like home and we did purchase a home that took a year to renovate and update. We have now lived in Milton for almost 3 years.
